The city clerk works directly with the mayor, City Council, and the public. Many of the daily functions of the City of Greensboro are conducted through the City Clerk’s office. The Clerk is the custodian of records, serves as Human Resource Manager, Licensing Clerk, and Chief Municipal Election Official, and oversees the daily operation of City Hall. As City Treasurer, Lorrie manages all financial accounts for the City.
About Lorrie
Ms. Cook is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), for which she received her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in January 2002 and her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation in October 2011.
Ms. Cook has served as the city clerk/treasurer since July 1997. She is a 1989 graduate of Stillman College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a 2015 graduate of the University of West Alabama with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She received her Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of West Alabama in December 2017 and her Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Tory University in December 2020.

Greensboro Municpal Court
Greensboro Municipal Court is a criminal misdemeanor court that handles misdemeanor and traffic offenses that occur within the Greensboro police jurisdiction.
Municipal Court is typically held on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays at 2 pm of each month; however, there may be exceptions to these dates due to holidays, severe weather, or other uncontrollable circumstances.
Court proceedings begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Greensboro City Hall Council Chambers located at 1101 Main Street, Greensboro, AL 36744.
Traffic Tickets
If you have a traffic ticket that does not require a court appearance and you wish to resolve it without appearing in court (guilty pleas only), the following options are available:

- In Person- You may enter your plea of guilty before the Magistrate and pay for your ticket in person at the magistrate’s office located inside the Greensboro City Hall anytime between Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except on city observed holidays. Acceptable forms of payment in person are cash, cashier’s check, or money orders made payable to Greensboro Municipal Court. “No personal checks accepted”.
- By Mail- You may mail your plea of guilty and send your payment to Greensboro Municipal Court at P. O. Drawer 77, Greensboro, AL 36744. The court clerk must receive your plea and payment on or before your scheduled court date. DO NOT SEND CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS IN THE MAIL.
